NBN Co creative account in play

UPDATED: With the federal election looming, and a recently retired chief executive, the NBN Co is pitching its creative account. An RFP has been issued, AdNews can confirm.

NBN Co has now confirmed the account is in play. The media element, handled by UM, is not under review.

The timing of the review may raise eyebrows given that the NBN strategy will likely undergo significant changes following the election. Mike Quigley, who came out of retirement to head the NBN Co, retired last Friday.

However a spokesperson for NBN Co told AdNews that there was "nothing fishy" about the timing as the current contract, with Leo Burnett Sydney, expires in August.

He said that a decision on who take the above the line account, a single agency from "a handful" of candidates, would be announced "within the coming weeks".
