The second cook-off between My Kitchen Rules and MasterChef: The Professionals has seen the Seven series more than double the audience of Ten's offering.

My Kitchen Rules attracted 1.64 million metro viewers and was the highest rated program on Tuesday, according to preliminary figures from OzTam.

The reality competition show added more than 250,000 viewers to its audience figure from the previous evening's 1.38 million viewers. Last year, the program had a season average of 1.8 million people.

In contrast, Ten's MasterChef: The Professionals (MCP) has suffered since its rival went to air two nights ago in the same timeslot. MCP dropped to 729,000 viewers last night. It was 10th on the overall ratings table but third in the 16 to 39 and 18 to 49 demographics.

On Monday night 893,000 people tuned in while last Tuesday 22 January, MCP commanded an audience of 1.02 million viewers.

Seven's returning local drama, Packed to the Rafters, claimed second spot last night as 1.41 million people tuned in.

Across the main channels, Seven convincingly won the night with 29.9% of audience share, followed by Nine with 16.2%, Ten with 13.1%, the ABC with 12.3% and SBS had 4.2%.
