MTV Music Brands and Comedy Central have appointed Fairfax Media commercial director, Food & Wine, Simon Bates as the new marketing boss.
Bates will serve as director of marketing, communications and commercial partnerships. He replaces Tina McIntosh, who moved over to the same role at Nickelodeon.
In his position, Bates will be responsible for all off-air marketing and commercial partnerships, and publicity and communications across MTV, MTV Hits, MTV Classic and Comedy Central in Australia and New Zealand. He will work closely with Ignite Media Brands.
Bates joins from Fairfax where prior to his Food & Wine role he has also been general manager of Fairfax Enterprises and consumer marketing director for The Sydney Morning Herald. In the UK, he has worked for the BBC and Freeview+.
He's also done stints with Sky TV, Sportsworld Media Group, The World Surf Tour, Windsurf Tour and The Marketing Store.
