More Gold for McCann (and Droga5)

Another day another massive trophy haul. McCann Melbourne's 'Dumb Ways to Die' took another Grand Prix, six Golds, a Silver and three Bronze gongs on Wednesday. At this rate John Mescall will need to charter a plane to get the spoils home. And a week's sleep.

The Grand Prix and two of the Gold Lions came in the radio category. It took four Gold Lions and a Silver Lion in the cyber category and three Bronze Lions for press ads.

But Droga5 put a stop to McCann's monopoly. The Sydney agency's 'Stories For Every Journey' for Qantas won a Gold in the Design category.

M&C Saatchi took a Design Silver for the Art of Noise for Noise International while the excellently-named 'Smilemaker Vibrators' won Silver for Bear Meets Eagle on Fire. A visual identity for Noise international won Bronze for Like Minded Studio and Leo Burnett's Sydney took a Bronze for its own tipple, Leo's Cider.

M&C Saatchi's branding design company Re also took out a Design Bronze for its work with Steve Li Acupuncture.

Other non-'Dumb Ways' winners on Wednesday included Saatchi & Saatchi for Lexus in the print category (two Silver Lions) and DDB Sydney which won two Bronze Lions for Volkswagen.

In radio DDB Sydney took a silver in radio for Volkswagen Driver Fatigue Technology and Whybin\TBWA Sydney took bronze for M.J. Bale.

Clemenger BBDO Sydney and Leo Burnett Sydney took two Bronze Lions apiece for work for Coke ('Small World Machines') and Skittles ('Telekinize the Rainbow') in the Cyber category.

In the same category, George Patterson Y&R won a Bronze Lion for its Australian Defence Force work 'Anytime Anywhere', and Reactive Melbourne won a Bronze Lion with 'The Most Powerful Arm Ever Invented for Save Our Sons'.

Australia's Young Lions contenders continued to enjoy success with 303Lowe copywriter Alex Bolderoff and art director Liam Riddler taking out the Silver in the Cyber category.
