UPDATED: A further 14 advertisers, including American Express, Ford, Myer and Target, have withdrawn advertising from Austereo’s Kyle and Jackie O show.

Other advertisers to withdraw support are Lexus, Blackberry, Olympus, Coles Online, Holiday Inn, Volkswagen, Goldmark, TPG, Macquarie University and Piazza D’oro.

These advertisers join the ever-growing list of brands which have cut ties with Kyle Sandilands by withdrawing advertising.

Since the beginning of the week, brands such as Federal Government, Telstra, Holden, Vodafone, Medibank, Blackmores, Crazy John’s, Harvey Norman, The Good Guys and Fantastic Furniture have pulled advertising.

This follows offensive remarks made by Sandilands about a News Limited journalist, whom he referred to as a “fat slag”, among other insults.

The new wave of advertiser backlash follows a consumer protest sparked by an online petition at Change.org, which had 18,000 supporters as of noon today (25 November).

Blackberry has taken its actions one step further than most by wthdrawing all support from the entire Austereo network.

Several media buyers have expressed mixed opinions regarding Sandilands, with some believing he will ride out the storm, and others saying this scandal marks the end of the shock jock.

Southern Cross Austereo declined to comment beyond the statement issued this morning.
