Marin Software's Australian general manager is leaving the company to join tech start-up Lighthouse 8 as it sets its sights on Down Under.

Roland Irwin, who has been with Marin Software since its launch in Sydney in 2011, is joining Lighthouse 8 in the newly-created role of managing director APAC.

The digital strategy company, whose clients include include Blackmores, is based in Manly.

Irwin told AdNews: “It's exciting to be going back to the early days of a company again. Lighthouse 8 is a different business model from Marin Software, helping agencies with their strategy and activation work for clients. There's an opportunity to be the agency in the middle that pulls both sides together.”

Freddy Aurso, CEO of Lighthouse 8, said: “Roland shares our values and our focus on technology and innovation. He brings a unique insight and understanding of digital marketing performance and business intelligence to our team.”

On his time at Marin Software, Irwin said: “We have grown the company from nothing to 50 clients and about 500 brands. And it's grown from two people to 13.

“We have worked with most major agencies as well as with leading online and digital companies such as REA Group, Carsales, Telstra and The Open University – they are all now using Marin Software.”

Marin Software is not replacing the role of general manager. Recently-appointed APAC managing director Jay Revels, who is based in Japan, will step up to run the company's Australian office.

Irwinm who was digital marketing manager at Toyota Australia for two years before joining Marin software, will start at Lighthouse 8 on April 28.
