Women's magazine Prevention has launched a new campaign pushing the importance of preventative health, fronted by women including Ita Buttrose.

Pacific Magazines' Prevention has kicked off an initiative to promote preventative health, fronted by famous women including Ita Buttrose, Kerri-Anne Kennerley and Jessica Rowe.

The Australia-wide campaign is the first of its kind and aims to demonstrate the importance of women taking precautionary measures to ward of a range off health and mental issues.

The program will run for a week from Monday 18 March as 'National Prevention Week' across the magazine's print, online and social media platforms. The promotion kicks off today with the April issue of Prevention.

The push will be fronted by local women including alzheimer's ambassador Ita Buttrose, breast cancer survivor Kerri-Anne Kennerley, diabetes ambassador Marcia Hines and skin cancer spokeswoman Debora Hutton, sharing their health struggles and wellbeing secrets.

It will also be promoted by Network Seven with a 30-second community service announcement and Terry White Chemists, which will offer readers a comprehensive health check.

Prevention editor Jacqueline Mooney said in a statement: “[...] The good news is that the risk of all these diseases can be drastically reduced—or even prevented altogether—with small food, fitness and lifestyle tweaks."

Meanwhile, Pacific Magazines healthy lifestyle publisher Karen Deveson said the campaign reflected the magazines "expertise and commitment to understanding and shaping the healthy lifestyle trends of Australian women today".

Last week, Pacific Magazines launched the second year of its 'I Feel Beautiful' Priceline partnership, also fronted by Buttrose.

Marketing director Amanda Conners told AdNews that the campaign was retained for a second year because it "drove huge levels of engagement". Priceline had "high expectations" from the partnership in 2013, she added.
