EXCLUSIVE: Independent ad agency Lavender has appointed former Mark founding partner and digital creative director Matt Cumming as executive creative director.

Cumming replaces Luke Chess who left the agency in January after just over a year in the job to join Clemenger BBDO Sydney as creative director.

Cumming joins Lavender from marketing consultancy Bienalto where he served as creative director. Prior to Bienalto, Cumming founded M&C Saatchi’s direct and digital arm Mark, after five years as a digital creative director at M&C Saatchi.

The new Lavender ECD also founded the new media department at Euro RSCG and served as its partner and executive creative director. Cumming started his advertising career as an art director at Saatchi & Saatchi.

Lavender managing partner Rebecca James told AdNews: “We’ve been searching for a great creative talent who will truly embrace the power of our technical capabilities. Someone who understands that marketing is increasingly about relationships and helping our clients establish and build relationships with their customers. Matt is that person.”
