Whybin TBWA Sydney was the highest placed Australian agency in The Big Won global rankings report in ninth spot, while Colenso BBDO in New Zealand took out the top honours.
Whybin also scored fourth place in Top Agencies – Asia Pacific, fourth place in Top Direct Marketing Campaigns, third on Top Direct Marketing Agencies and seventh on Top Chief Creative Officers/Executive Creative Directors, for Matty Burton.
Two local agencies made the list of the top 20 agencies in the world across all media in 2012. George Patterson Y&R Melbourne joined Whybin on the list in equal 19th place.
GPY&R also featured on on the Top Agencies – Asia Pacific list in sixth place and attained a 10th spot on the Top Campaigns Across All Media Channels list and third on the Top Direct Marketing Campaigns lists for its Defence Force Australia 'Mobile Medic' campaign.
Leo Burnett Melbourne ranked eighth on the Top Agencies – Asia Pacific list and had the highest ranking for an Australian agency in seventh place on the Top Campaigns Across All Media Channels list for the 7-Eleven 'BYO Cup Day' campaign. The campaign also claimed ninth place on the Top Direct Marketing Campaigns list.
BMF Sydney was ninth on the Top Agencies – Asia Pacific list and eighth in the Direct Marketing agencies list. Its 'Nocturnal Migration' campaign for Tooheys was ninth on the Top TV/Film Campaigns ranking.
Ogilvy Sydney's Coca-Cola 'Share a Coke' campaign was awarded 11th on the Top Campaigns Across All Media list and fifth on the Top Direct Marketing Campaigns list.
DDB Sydney's print campaigns for Volkswagen came in sixth on the Top Press/Print Campaigns ranking.
Australia was ranked fourth by country in the report behind USA, Germany and the United Kingdom.
Colenso BBDO, BBDO New York and Serviceplan Munich were top three overall agencies in the report. BBDO was named the Top Network while Omnicom the Top Holding Company.
The Big Won report was based on 4,459 campaigns across 39 award shows in 2012.
