Keeping it real: Eyeballs glued to Seven and Nine's news and reality shows

Seven and Nine slugged out the nightly battle once again on Tuesday with My Kitchen Rules putting top slot on a plate for Seven. Seven also tucked in to the lion's share of the audience, racking up 33.6% according to OzTam data.

Some 1.667 million people tuned in to MKR across Australia's five metro areas, according to the preliminary overnight ratings from the panel provider.

Nine's The Block: Fans versus Faves, took second place with an audience of 1.233 million. Nine's News shows also took third and fourth place, with news and current affairs making up the rest of the top ten bar Winners and Losers and Home and Away in eigth and ninth with audiences of 922,000 and 920,000 respectively.

ABC's Evening News took tenth slot with 839,000 viewers. The network's other highest rating show was Family Confidential in 15th spot with 569,000 viewers.

Seven took out five of the top 10 spots, with the viewer numbers for each of the individual shows adding up to 5.629 million (although this will likely include duplication)

Nine won spots two, three, four and six with a total cumulative audience of 4.515 million on the same basis from those shows.

With 322,000 viewers last night, Ten's The Biggest Loser failed to make the top 20. The network's best rating shows were Ten Eywitness News in fourtheenth place (582,000) and NCIS (523,000) in seventeenth place.
