James Murdoch labelled "mafia boss"

News international boss James Murdoch has been compared to a mafia chieftan during his latest appearance before the parliamentary inquiry into the UK phone hacking scandal.

Yesterday, the media mogul appeared before the British Select Committee to answer questions about the scandal. He has continued to deny knowledge that any wrongdoing was occurring within the company.

During the hearing, Labour MP Tom Watson said to Murdoch, “You must be the first mafia boss in history who didn’t think he was running a criminal enterprise.”

Murdoch said the comment was “inappropriate”.

Murdoch also disputed testimony from News of the World’s former editor Colin Myer and News International’s former legal counsel Tom Crone, both of whom said Murdoch had knowledge of phone hacking.
