Initiative Australia has appointed MediaCom Sydney's head of client communications planning Andrew Livingston as chief executive.

Livingston will replace Tracie Michael, who announced her departure earlier in the year.

He will take over the agency’s national operations, overseeing offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. Livingston's start date is yet to be confirmed.

A statement from Mediabrands said that Livingston is also managing director designate at MediaCom, however a spokesperson for GroupM said this is not the case.

Initiative worldwide president and chief strategy officer Eric Bader said: “Andrew will play a vital role in working to implement our ambitious business strategies and growth plans in one of Initiative's most important markets.

“With his vast experience and with the support of a very talented and effective management team, Andrew is the ideal person to lead Initiative Australia into the future.”

Prior to his time at MediaCom, Livingston worked at ZenithOptimedia Sydney, and at UK agencies including Initiative and MEC.
