I got 99 problems but a logo ain't one: Unofficial Yahoo! logo contest attracts 5,000 entries

Design blog 99designs created a community contest to come up with a new logo for Yahoo! in the US. It went pretty well. Here are the top 30.

The contest was inspired by Yahoo!'s '30 Days of Change' campaign, displaying a new logo each day until 5 September when its true redesign is revealed.

99designs says it received over 5,000 entries. The winning logo was by user GREYdesigns, but a video of the top 30 throws up pretty funky alternatives. Check it out below.

"A couple of weeks ago, 99designs was inspired by Yahoo!'s announcement of a logo redesign to suit their company's recent updates and changes, and created a community contest, challenging our designers to take the redesign into their own hands.

"While Yahoo! said early on that they would be staying true to the basics of their branding (they'd keep it a simple, purple word mark), we gave the community ultimate freedom to take it in a whole different direction – and we got a TON, over 5,000+ entries to be exact, of fantastic ideas!"
