Google Australia loses $4 million

Google Australia reported a loss of nearly $4 million for the 2011 calendar year, although the company's revenue saw a boost.

In an annual report lodged with the Australian Securities and Investment Commission this week, Google reported a $3.9 million loss, and operating revenue of $201.1 million.

In 2010, the company posted a loss of $3.1 million. Meanwhile, revenue in 2010 was $151.4 million.

In 2009, Google Australia recorded a net loss of $4.4 million, with $110 million in operating revenue.

The report showed Google's local arm holds $116 million worth of gross assets.

The company employs 568 people in Australia, and is based in Sydney.
