Facebook hits million mark, advertisers that is

Facebook has done it. It's hit the one million mark in active advertisers globally. So, that's one advertiser to every 1,100 users.

The milestone is an important one for Facebook which has yet to completely convince investors it has viable long-term business and monetisation strategies.

More of a focus on ads on mobile platforms has seen the company reclaim momentum. However, a partnership with HTC to release the first 'Facebook phone' which featured an in-built Facebook interface has proven disastrous with its price dropping from US$99 to US$0.99.

Facebook vice president global marketing solutions Carolyn Everson said: “Marketers of all shapes and sizes help define what matters to our 1.1 billion users. We provide all businesses an authentic voice at a scale that has never before been available. The work being developed on Facebook is personal, the results are real, and the impact is powerful.

“Facebook is a partnership company and we want to thank our one million partners. You are an integral part of the user experience, and we're delighted you've taken this journey with us.”

Facebook's share price is currently US$24.21 with a market capitalisation of US$58.5 billion. It's much lower than its April 2012 IPO price of US$38 per share but has rallied from its 12-month low of  US$17.55.
