Cullen to lead Elle Australia

6 March 2013

Publishers' Australia editor of the year Justine Cullen will spearhead Elle's Australian launch. The Shop 'Til You Drop editor had been widely tipped for the role and will be tasked with adding local numbers to Elle's 6.5 million global circulation.

Kim St Clair Bodden, senior vice president/editorial director of Hearst Magazines said Cullen was the ideal choice with a "deep understanding of the brand ... vision and expert knowledge of the market."

Peter Holder, publisher of the Hearst-Bauer Media joint venture, said the appointment concluded an "extensive" interview process to select a leader for "the most exciting Australian magazine brand launch in a decade." He told AdNews the firms were "hugely excited" about the launch and batted away "negativity" from sections of the media "with their own agenda."

Cullen would "no doubt pull together a dynamic team" and could now "get cracking and talking to the people she wants to see" with the appointment now official.

Holder rubbished rumours in today's Telegraph that women's monthly Madison may be set to close. He told AdNews that was "absolutely not" the case.
