Group buying site Cudo has claimed to have delivered the largest-grossing group buying deal in Australia to date, raising over $3 million dollars and selling over 3400 vouchers.

The deal offered five nights at The Sea World Resort in Queensland and unlimited entry to amusement parks Sea World, Wet'n'Wild and Warner Bros. Movie World. Cudo, said the offer brought in over $3 million and sold an excess of 3400 vouchers, claiming it is the highest-grossing group buying deal to happen in Australia to date.

It follows Cudo's previous Sea World offer in January this year which reeled in $1.6 million.

Telecommunications research firm Telsyte predicts the local online group buying market to exceed $600 million this year and positive results "support the industry and drive growth".

Telsyte's Sam Yip said: "This result is a clear demonstration of the power of group buying. Cudo has delivered a ground-breaking result for Sea World Resort and offered strong value to consumers."

Cudo chief executive Mike Sneesby said: "It is fantastic to set a new benchmark for group buying in Australia and we are delighted that together with the team from Sea World Resort and Village Roadshow Theme Parks we have been able to bring such an amazing offer to Cudo consumers.

"The daily deals market is experiencing sustained growth in Australia and travel continues to be one of the largest categories. The success of the Sea World Resort offer validates Cudo's increased investment in the travel category."

Sea World Resort and Water Park general manager Bikash Randhawa added: "We've worked hard to create an offer that Australians would all love and we are very happy with the results. The offer really resonated with Australian families and we look forward to welcoming more than 13,000 guests to the resort as a result of the promotion."
