Two agencies are now in the running for the Carlton United Brewers media account, which went out to pitch in July.

AdNews understands that incumbent MediaCom is staring down PHD for the $18 million business, with MEC and Carat now out of the race.

A decision is expected late September or early October. MediaCom has been defending a  number of key accounts recently: it retained Specsavers and QLD Government but lost NSW Government.

CUB spent $18.4 million on main media in the 12 months to July, down from $20.5 million in the prior corresponding period, according to Nielsen.
