Comms Council's gender group wants you

The Communications Council is seeking experienced agency folk to join its Gender Diversity Working Group.

The group is looking for six men or women from member agencies with more than 10 years of experience to join on a project basis. The group is currently undertaking a major research project to examine the gender imbalance in management ranks in agencies.

As a result of preliminary findings, the group has formed three streams to tackle the project. It will focus on building awareness of the benefits of gender balance, the challenges of a 24/7 service orientation and flexible work structures, and framing leadership as desirable for women.

The six open positions on these sub-groups will help shape policy, develop insights and formulate tools for the industry in these areas. The project will start in January 2013 and run for three months.

The Comms Council is also looking for more respondents for its gender diversity online survey. The survey forms a crucial part of the research being undertaken by the group. It seeks to identify the factors contributing to gender imbalance in senior roles. Click here to take the survey.

Please contact the Gender Diversity Working Group's chair, Alex Allwood, on alex@holla.com.au to express interest in joining the group.
