Coca-Cola South Pacific has appointed Chris Johnston as chief marketing officer to replace Lucie Austin.
Johnston joined the Australian operations from Coca Cola North America where he was director of tea. A Coca-Cola spokesperson confirmed he was previously based in Canada and has already started at the company's Sydney offices.
Johnston will be responsible for a portfolio of brands including Coke Red, Diet Coke, Fanta, Glaceau Vitamin Water and Coke Zero. The brand's marketing team consists of more than 50 people.
Johnston's appointment continued global Coca-Cola's tradition of often moving senior marketers across different regions. Austin was transferred to Europe where she overseeing marketing there.
During Austin's tenure, Coca Cola enjoyed success with the 'Share a Coke' campaign, which relied heavily on social sharing.
