Clems leads MADC finalists

Clemenger BBDO leads the charge with 35 finalist entries for the Melbourne Advertising and Design Club (MADC) awards, followed by Grey and DDB.

Clemenger BBDO Melbourne was shortlisted for campaigns for clients including Carlton United Breweries, NAB and the Melbourne International Film Festival.

Grey Melbourne racked up 17 finalist entries for campaigns for the Transport Accident Commission and Simplot. DDB Group Melbourne had 16 finalists entries for campaigns for clients including the Australian Centre for Moving Image and PZ Cussons.

Other agencies on the finalist list include AJF Partnership, Publicis Mojo, Leo Burnett, JWT, BMF, Smart, CHE, Ogilvy, McCann, Marmalade, ST&P and Mark.

Visual Jazz dominated the digital categories with 12 finalist entries, followed by Lifelounge, Bliss Media, DTDesign, Native Digital and Boffswana. ERD, Truly Deeply, Canyon, Elmwood, Davidson Branding, Cornwell and Square Circle Triangle are amongst the finalists in the design categories.

Chairman of judges was M&C Saatchi executive creative director, Ben Welsh. Chairmen of various juries included Grant Rutherford, Jim Ingram, Jeremy Wortsman and Wilf Sweetland.

Welsh said: "The best work was amongst the best work you'd see anywhere in the world and in most categories the standard of entries was pretty high - there were few embarrassing moment of what the fuck were they thinking.

"The jurors were a pleasure to work with, in fact it was the friendliest judging I've ever been involved in. Perhaps the good spirit led to a spirit of generosity, but if you see Gold on 14 October, you can be sure you've earned it."
