Carlton Draught's 'Beer Chase' skyrockets on YouTube

Carlton Draught's newly created 'Beer Chase' commercial has racked up 1.5 million hits on YouTube less than a week after launch, with the creative community heaping praise on the spot.

The commercial, created by Clemenger BBDO Melbourne, was only launched last week, but has been met with strong numbers and critical acclaim.

McCann executive creative director John Mescall was highly positive about the new spot. He told AdNews: “I think it's great. I wish I'd done it.

“It obviously continues a long-running campaign where the brand takes the piss. Absurdity is what drives it. This is pure entertainment, and is another chapter in a great advertising story.

“So many advertisers dumb it down when they make mass advertising, but this ad is intelligently quirky, and I think it's wonderful.

“Carlton Draught is the standout campaign in this country, and has been for years.”

The Monkeys creative partner Justin Drape said: “I enjoyed the story a lot, and I think that punters around the country will laugh out loud when they see it.”

The ad is a continuation of Carlton Draught's 'Made From Beer' positioning, which focuses on tongue-in-cheek creative.
