Blame it on the boogie: Ten overhauls program schedule

Ten has dramatically cut back struggling reality series Everybody Dance Now, culling its schedule from three episodes to one per week.

The dance show, hosted by Sarah Murdoch, debuted on Sunday night to a soft 598,000 viewers and dropped to the low 300,000s in its two subsequent airings. The program will now only air once a week on Sunday nights.

Network Ten chief programming officer David Mott said: “It is not unusual for television networks to change programs. For some time now, we’ve talked about creating more programming options for Ten and moving away from the ‘one bet, one punch’ mentality of old.

“These changes highlight that strategy. We are re-setting Everybody Dance Now. But it clearly remains part of the Ten schedule, along with other exciting new local programs such as Puberty Blues, I Will Survive, Don’t Tell The Bride, Class Of, Reef Doctors and Come Date With Me

“We believe in the Everybody Dance Now format. We have listened to the feedback from viewers and we are working with production company FremantleMedia to reset the show and make it more engaging for viewers.”

The Shire has similarly been shuffled around as a result of low ratings. The controversial 'dramality' show has been shafted to a less desirable time slot, Monday 9:45pm, after failing to fire during prime time. The program garnered 502,000 viewers last night.

New series Don't Tell The Bride will start on Monday at 7:30pm while I Will Survive will be broadcast on Tuesdays and Wednesdays nights.
