Australian Magazine Awards now open for entry

The Australian Magazine Awards (AMAs) are back with two new categories; Editor of the Year and Cover of the Year. Proud of your work? Then you should enter by 30 September and hope media buyers agree.

The event will be held on 14 November 2013 at Sydney's The Ivy. It will be chaired by MEC chief strategy officer James Hier.

Categories include Fashion, Home and Garden, Food and Entertainment, Men's and Motoring, which do not require entries as they are judged on circulation growth (ABC), readership (Roy Morgan), advertising volume (Nielsen), front cover, editorial content and design.

The awards also recognise Custom, Website, App and Event of the year, along with two new categories for this year, Editor of the Year and Cover of the Year. Those categories require publications to enter themselves.

Finalists will be announced on 18 September 2013. Judging will take place in October by a panel of media buyers. A new inductee into the Magazines Hall of Fame is inducted at the presentation each year, with previous inductees including Bernard Leser, Matt Handbury and Ita Buttrose.

Last year Morrison Media's women's magazine Frankie took the coveted Magazine of the Year award against competitors Vogue Australia and Harpers Bazaar.

The AMAs were established in 2009. For contact details click here.
