If you've scratched your head wondering how AFL scoring actually works, then this is the perfect ad for you. Nominally, it's the new NAB campaign promoting its AFL sponsorship, but it has the added bonus of being an instructional piece.
The AFL has Melbourne charmed, but for the rest of the country, NAB has set out to convert the sceptics with 'Footify Australia'. Centred around a website which contains everything you've ever wanted to know about AFL, there's also a TV ad featuring Geelong Cats captain Joel Selwood which shows just about anyone can be an AFL guru.
Expect to become familiar with terms such as 'Guts after a Clanger', 'Screamer', 'Don't Argue from a Unit', 'Daisy Cutter into the Woodwork' and 'Sell the Dummy'. Confused? You don't need to be.
The campaign was developed by Clemenger BBDO Melbourne and will also be supported by print and digital elements.
NAB chief marketing officer Sandra De Castro said: “The AFL is a huge part of NAB's culture – both internally for our staff and externally for the fans. We want to Footify the rest of Australia and show them what they're missing out on.”
