Alan Joyce's salute to Lewis Pullen

By AdNews | 2 July 2013

Qantas executive marketing manager Lewis Pullen, the man behind 'You're the reason', is leaving the company today after three-and-a-half years.

He was involved in the development of major campaigns including the airlline's sponsorship of the 2011 Rubgy World Cup and 2012's London Olympics, and the global advertising surrounding the Qantas and Emirates partnership.

Pullen's departure comes after his current role was removed from its marketing structure in May this year as part of a shake-up. At the time, Olivia Wirth was given the new title of group executive of brand, marketing and corporate affairs. Wirth now holds group-wide brand responsibility.

However, Pullen appears to leaving the airline on good terms. Below is an internal email sent to senior staff from CEO Alan Joyce about his departure.

"Note from Group CEO, Qantas

Dear Senior Leaders,

On his last day in the office, I would like to thank Lewis Pullen for his contribution to Qantas.

Since joining Qantas in 2010, Lewis has been involved in many successful initiatives and projects including the development of the new Martin Grant uniform, the award winning campaigns around the Rugby World Cup in 2011 and the London Olympics in 2012 and the recent global advertising launch of the Qantas and Emirates partnership.

This is a strong platform from which we can drive the next phase of our brand and communications activity.

I would also like to thank Lewis for his assistance over the last few weeks during the handover to the new centralised and integrated marketing structure.

We would like to wish Lewis all the best in his next challenge.

Alan Joyce"
